The Real Top Gun

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a top gun pilot for the Navy? FTSS JV in Fallon, NV maintains one of the best training simulators on the West Coast. It’s so good, that Hollywood is eager to learn everything they can about it- specifically for the upcoming movie, Top Gun II.

Recently, actors Glen Powell, Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman, Jay Ellis, Monica Barbaro, Joseph Kosinski, and Jon Hamm were given the opportunity to train first hand with VFC-13. Their mission? Get inside the minds of the Top Gun characters they will play. The actors spent the day learning aviation terminology and pranking each other with mayday procedures as they trained like pilots.

It was up to FTSS JV to make sure operations ran smoothly for the actor’s visit. Every aspect of their training was monitored closely to ensure they would represent the Navy in its best light. We can’t wait to see the movie and look forward to our continued work with our esteemed Naval Aviation Forces.
